WHATLEY 4/83 Milestone at NGR ST 3606 0697 - GV II

Milestone. C19. Ham stone pillar, painted, about 300mm wide x 190mm thick x 800mm high. with rounded top, incised 'Chard/3/Winsham/1'. This road, from Chard to Greenham, Dorset was turnpiked by the Chard Trust in 1629. (Bentley J.B and Murless B.J, Somerset Roads, SIAS, 1985).
