Description

Milestone located at National Grid Reference ST 3606 0697. This 19th-century milestone is made of ham stone and has been painted. It measures approximately 300 millimeters wide, 190 millimeters thick, and 800 millimeters high, featuring a rounded top. The stone is incised with the inscriptions 'Chard/3/Winsham/1'. The road it marks, which runs from Chard to Greenham in Dorset, was turnpiked by the Chard Trust in 1629.
