This is a milestone, possibly from the 18th century, located immediately west of the junction with Chillington Down Turning. It is made of lias stone and is painted. The milestone measures about 320 millimeters wide, 180 millimeters thick, and 800 millimeters high, with a rounded top. The incised lettering on the stone reads 'Chard 4/ Crewkerne 4'. It is situated on the historic Salisbury to Exeter Road, which was turnpiked by the Chard Trust in 1753.
