Description
This milestone, likely from the 19th century, is located in the east wall of the churchyard, about 4 meters south of the lych gate at the Church of St Stephen. It is made of painted Ham stone, measuring approximately 300 millimeters wide and 750 millimeters high, with a rounded top and set flush into the wall. The stone is inscribed with the word 'Chard/4'. This road, which connects Chard to Greenham in Dorset, was turnpiked by the Chard Trust in 1829.
