Description

The George is an early 19th-century corner house, formerly an inn. It is constructed of local stone, rendered and colourwashed, with a Welsh slate roof between stepped coped gables and brick end chimney stacks. The house has two storeys and three bays. It features sash windows in plain openings; the outer bays have 16-pane sashes, and the upper central bay has a 12-pane sash, while the lower central bay has a 16-pane sash. A 6-flush-panel door is set within a deep recess, and has a moulded architrave of a non-classical pattern. A later 19th-century sash window is found in the west gable, and to the northwest a lean-to incorporates a former pointed-arched gateway, now partly blocked with an inset window. There are further outbuildings to the rear. The interior has not been inspected.
