Description
The Old King's Arms is a former inn that has been converted into a private house, located at the end of a row on Church Street in Wincham. It dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century and is constructed of local stone rubble, with a rendered and colourwashed facade. The building features Welsh slate roofs set between stepped coped gables and has brick chimney stacks at either end.
The structure has a 'U'-shaped plan with a central throughway and stands two storeys high, with a street elevation comprising three bays. It includes a plinth and a band course at the upper cill level. The ground floor has sash windows with 25 panes, while the first floor features sash windows with 20 panes, all in plain openings. The second bay on the lower level contains an elliptical-arched throughway, complete with a keystone and impost blocks, leading to a pair of boarded doors, one of which has a wicket gate.
There is a 19th-century extension at the rear, which has timber casement windows visible on the south flank, one of which has a semi-circular-arched head. The interior has not been inspected. Attached to the north side of The Old King's Arms is Manor Cottage.
