Description
Long Thatches is a detached cottage, probably dating from the 18th century. It is constructed of local stone rubble and is colourwashed, topped with a thatched roof featuring plain gables and brick end chimney stacks, one of which has a traditional baffle. The building is two storeys high and has four bays. Most of the windows are small-pane casements: bays one and two have three-light windows, while bays three and four each have two-light windows. Additionally, there is a two-light set of windows higher up in an eyebrow roof dormer between bays three and four. Between bays one and two, there is a studded boarded door on a heavy frame, accessed by two steps and sheltered by a thatched hood. The interior has not been inspected. The cottage is included in the register primarily for its group value.
