Description
17 and 19 Church Street are a pair of houses, likely built in the early 19th century. They are constructed from lias stone with cut and squared Ham stone dressing, topped with a Welsh slate roof that features stepped coped gables. The houses have brick chimney stacks at both ends and in between. The design includes a double roof plan, with two storeys and a total of four bays. The sash windows consist of 16 panes each, set in plain surrounds with gauged flat arches. The lower bays one and three feature four-panel doors; the first door is accessed by one step, while the third door is accessed by two steps, both set within keystoned semi-circular arched recesses and adorned with cast-iron fanlights. The interiors have not been inspected. These houses hold significant group value with the nearby Church of St Stephen.
