Description
Ammerham Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse built in the early 19th century. It is constructed from local lias stone that is roughly cut and squared, and features a Welsh slate roof with high stepped coped gables that suggest it may have originally been thatched. The farmhouse has two storeys and three bays.
The windows are casement style with transoms, consisting of three-light windows in the outer bays and a three-light casement without a transom in the upper centre bay, which is set lower than the other windows. All windows have voussoired flat arches and louvred shutters. The ground floor bay two features a Regency pattern six-panel door set in a recess, with panelled joints and a timber architrave. This door is protected by a timber trellis porch of an early design, which has a bell-curve metal-clad pitched roof with a wooden finial.
The south gable of the farmhouse is rendered, while the north gable has an unexplained rough recess at ground floor level, indicating that part of an earlier structure may have been incorporated into the building. The interior has not been inspected.
