Description

BURTON IN LONSDALE HIGH STREET SD 67 SE (south side) 2/21 Hillcross House (formerly listed as Campbells 20.2.58 House and house adjoining Campbells House to east) GV II House. Mid-late C18. Ashlar, painted dressings, slate roof. Central staircase plan. 2 storeys, double fronted. Facade breaks forward over central entrance porch which is a vernacular adaptation of baroque details, moulded surround has cheek pieces, consoles support broken pediment with moulded finial behind; 6 panel door. 2 ground floor and 2 upper floor windows have plain surrounds and 12-pane sashes. Projecting quoins. String course below modillioned eaves cornice. Gable end coping and ridge stacks.
