Description
The Loans is a house built around 1800, located on the south side of Forty Acre Lane in Alveston. The building is constructed of rubble and is rendered with scored joints, featuring ashlar and stone dressings, including quoin strips. It has a slate roof with raised coped verges, gable stacks, and two stacks at the center.
The house is designed in a classical style and has two storeys with five windows, all of which are 16-pane sashes set in stone surrounds with keystones and cills. The central three bays project slightly forward. There is a two-storey central ashlar porch with plain pilasters and a blind window on each side. The porch features a fielded panelled door with a plain fanlight, a cornice, and an open pediment. Above, there is a Venetian window on the first floor with the center light blind, flanked by blind windows on each side, also with keystones and cills. Inside, the house has internal shutters.
