Description
Madeira Cottage is an early 19th-century house located on the west side of Leavening York Road. The construction incorporates a limestone foundation, brick walls, and a Westmorland slate roof. The house is arranged with a central hallway entry and two rooms in depth, extending to two storeys and three bays. A central gabled bay projects forward. The entrance features a 20th-century double door beneath a fanlight. Original sash windows with glazing bars are present throughout. A band at the eaves level acts as the base for a central pediment. The roof is hipped, and there are chimney stacks positioned centrally, at the right end, and at the rear.
