Description

Woodlands is a house dating from the 17th century, situated in Acklam, Scotland. Constructed from limestone rubble laid in courses, it has a pantile roof. The original design comprised three rooms arranged in a direct-entry plan, although a 20th-century entrance has been added to the right side. The house is two storeys high with two windows on the first floor. A board door with one casement window to the left and two to the right is present, alongside a 20th-century glazed door on the extreme right. The first floor has fixed windows. There is evidence suggesting the eaves were raised at some point. The roof features sprocketed eaves, and a ridge stack is visible. Inside, a cross beam remains in the left-end room, which was originally a separate structure and functioned as the village joiner's shop.
