Description
Merton House is a house dating from the early to mid-18th century. It is constructed of limestone ashlar with a pantile roof. The building features a central hallway entry, with a 20th-century addition to the left and a cross-wing at the rear. The house is two storeys high and has three bays. The entrance includes a six-fielded-panel door set in an arched rusticated surround. There are fixed windows beneath keyed lintels throughout the structure. A band runs along the first floor, and another band at the eaves level is supported by paired consoles. The gable has coping, shaped kneelers, and end stacks. The 20th-century addition is not considered of special interest.
