Description
Haughton House is a late 18th-century house located on the south side of North Cowton Village Green. It is constructed of roughcast rubble and features a Westmorland slate roof. The building stands three storeys high and has two bays, along with a two-storey rear outshut. The central entrance consists of a part-glazed door from the 20th century, which is set beneath a six-pane overlight and framed by an ashlar surround with a tripartite keystone. The windows are adorned with brick flat arches, flush wood architraves, and projecting stone sills. The ground and first floors have sash windows with glazing bars, while the second floor features 9-pane unequally-hung sashes. The house has stepped eaves, shaped kneelers, and ashlar coping, with brick stacks at each end.
