Description

The Railway Bridge, built around 1846 for George Hudson's Great North of England Railway, carries a road over a disused railway line. It is constructed of rock-faced ashlar sandstone and features a single segmental arch with stepped voussoirs, flanked by pilasters. The arch springs from cornices, and there is a band that is treated as a cornice over the pilasters. The parapets have wedge-section coping.
