Description

The lamp-post at the centre of the Square in Burton is a Grade II listed structure, dated 1863, as noted on a commemorative plaque. It is made of cast iron and features a festooned, tapering plinth that is square in shape with concave sides. The post is fluted and tapers upwards, with a clasping petalled base and scrolled brackets. At the top, there is a square lantern that has been converted to electricity. The commemorative plaque on the east side reads: "TO COMMEMORATE THE MARRIAGE OF HRH ALBERT EDW Prince of Wales ON THE 10TH DAY OF MARCH 1863."
