Description
Devenant House is an early 19th-century house located on Burton Main Street. It is constructed of limestone ashlar and features a graduated greenslate roof with a hip to the left and a blue glazed ridge. The building stands two storeys plus attics and has three windows, which are sashes with glazing bars, though most have been replaced. The attic windows are blind. The central entrance consists of a 9-panelled door, with the top six panels being glazed, and it is topped with an overlight that has interlaced glazing bars. There is a bracketed cornice above the door. To the right, there is a 20th-century top-hung window. The house has a plinth, a cill band at the first floor, modillioned eaves, and corniced gutters. A single chimney is located at the rear. The return elevation to the north has similar architectural details.
