Description

The barn and byres located to the north of Town Head Farmhouse are a range of mid to late 19th century structures built from squared, snecked rubble with quoins, topped with hipped, graduated slate roofs. The central bank barn features an entrance at the rear and has a two-storey, seven-bay front. It includes two byre doors, each flanked by a single window, and a coach door on the ground floor, with a window and a threshing door located above.

Adjoining the north end of the front at right angles is a two-storey, six-bay byre range that has two doors on each floor and three windows on the ground floor. The ventilation slits are small open lancets set in chamfered stone surrounds. At the south end of the rear, there is a two-storey, two-bay byre range that also extends at right angles, featuring two doors with a lancet vent-slit above each. The doors and windows throughout the building have elliptical heads and chamfered surrounds.
