Description
Town Head Farmhouse is a house dated 1820 that incorporates an earlier building. The front is made of ashlar stone with rusticated quoins and features bands at the first floor and eaves, all set on a moulded plinth. The sides and rear are constructed from coursed, squared rubble. The roof is covered with graduated slate and has corniced stone chimneys at both ends.
The house has a symmetrical, two-storey, three-bay front with a central part-glazed door and a fanlight, all framed by a segmentally pedimented architrave. The carved tympanum above the door features a central two-handled vase with lilies and is dated 1820. An earlier house adjoins the west end of the farmhouse, which is pebble-dashed rubble on a plinth and also has a graduated slate roof. The front of the earlier house is set back and has three-light windows on the ground floor and two-light windows on the first floor, both with mullions.
