Horatio Square, High Street, Gatehouse Of Fleet

Horatio Square is a house dating from around 1800, featuring two storeys and a symmetrical three-bay front. The exterior is rendered and lined to resemble ashlar, with painted raised margins around the windows. A central doorpiece made of painted granite has corbels that support a simple pediment, and there are double-leaf panelled doors. The windows are all single light, sash and case with plate glass, except for the central first-floor window, which has four-pane glazing. The building has a granite eaves band and a moulded eaves cornice. The roofs are slate, with sandstone ridges and skews, and there are corniced stacks at the ends.

At the rear, there is a two-storey wing constructed of rubble walling with a gabled roof. Additionally, there is a rubble garden or boundary wall and a single-storey garden house with a slate roof.
