Description
The forecourt walls, piers, and railings at the front of Saunders date from the late 18th century to early 19th century. The low walls are made of coursed, squared rubble with chamfered coping. The gate piers are monolithic and feature inset convex moulding and decorative paterae. The square caps of the piers have pointed finials. The end piers are the same as the others, but their original caps have been replaced with domical pyramidal caps. The railings and gate are supported by pointed wrought-iron standards.
