Description
St Ursula's Convent School is a house that has been converted into a private school. It dates from the early 19th century, with a mid-19th century extension added for the Dalton family. The building features incised painted render walls, pilastered quoins on a chamfered plinth, and a panel string course. It has a graduated Welsh slate roof and ashlar chimney stacks. The structure is two storeys high and consists of three bays, with a single-storey, two-bay extension to the right. The entrance includes a panelled door set in a reeded Tuscan porch with a decorated frieze. The windows are sash style with glazing bars, framed in painted stone surrounds. The extension has a side entrance and round-headed sash windows with glazing bars. The rear wall is made of sandstone and includes sash windows with glazing bars, as well as larger round-headed staircase windows featuring intersecting glazing bars, all in painted stone surrounds. Further extensions to the right are not of significant interest.
