Description

This is a group of four houses, now comprising two shops and two houses, built in the early 19th century. The exterior is painted snecked sandstone rubble with flush quoins set on a chamfered plinth. The roof is slate with 20th-century tile and rebuilt brick chimney stacks. Each house has a single bay and cellars. There are three steps leading up to 20th-century doors within painted stone surrounds. The windows are sash windows set in painted stone surrounds. Number 56 features a 19th-century bow shop window with glazing bars. Number 54A has an early 20th-century shop window. Wrought-iron railings surround the cellar access points. The building is listed partly for group value with numbers 62-66 King Street.
