Description
Nos 13 and 29 on New Street are two adjoining houses built in the mid to late 18th century. No. 13 features painted brick walls, while No. 29 has pebble-dashed walls with V-jointed quoins on the right side, set on a chamfered plinth. Both houses have graduated greenslate roofs, with the bottom courses made of sandstone slates. No. 29 has coped gables and brick chimney stacks, which indicate a higher original roof line. Each house is two storeys tall and has three bays, with No. 29 having an additional bay above a shared central archway. The entrances are four-panel doors topped by glazed fanlights, all framed in painted architraves with a keystone frieze beneath a cornice. The windows are double sash, with a single window above each entrance, all set in painted stone architraves. No. 29 also features a 19th-century canted bay window to the right. The archway has an alternate block surround and voussoirs. These houses are listed partly for their group value with No. 31.
