Description
Aylestone School is a house that was converted into a school in the late 19th century. It is built of coursed dressed stone and has a Welsh slate roof, featuring two reduced ridge stacks with a 20th-century superstructure. The building has two storeys and an attic, with a five-window range that includes plain sashes set in quoined moulded ashlar cases. There is an eaves cornice and three stone roof dormers with plain sashes.
The front has a curved bay with a parapet and three plain sashes, as well as three similar sashes set under pointed arches with hood moulding and a band above. On the right side, there are similar sashes and 2/2 sashes in the wing at the rear. The left side features a tier of plain sashes and an entrance porch with a panelled door in a quoined ashlar case, topped by a moulded pointed arch. Above the porch is another plain sash and an eaves cornice. There is also a wing at the rear.
