Description

PYTCHLEY HIGH STREET SP 87 SE (south side) 8/55 Old School House II House, now a school. Mid C18, with mid C19 additions. Brick with stone dressings and hipped Welsh slate roof. Chamfered plinth, sill and first floor bands, rusticated quoins, keystoned heads to the principal openings. 2 side wall and single gable coped brick stacks. 2 storeys, 5 bays. South front has a projecting 3-bay centre with moulded ashlar doorcase with pulvinated frieze, 2-leaf fielded panelled doors, and overlight, flanked by single round headed sashes and beyond, to the left, a flat headed sash. Above the door, a segmental headed sash with Gibbs surround and dummy balustrade, flanked on either side by 2 C18 and C19 sashes, that to the far right blocked. Each end has, above, a central round headed blank recess, flanked by single flat headed recesses. Rear elevation, to street, has projecting centre with pilastered and corniced wooden doorcase, 4-panelled door and overlight. Regular fenestration with glazing bar sashes, 4 of them blocked. The 2-storey mid C19 addition to the south east corner is not of special architectural interest.
