Description

No. 11 Church Street is a house that has been converted into a school, dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed from coursed squared rubble and dressed stone, with some areas rendered, and features a slate roof. The building has ashlar dressings, a coped gable with kneelers, and a small coped parapet. It has a single ridge and rear wall, along with two gable and two side wall stacks. The structure is three storeys high and consists of four bays arranged in a T-plan.

The south front displays a central projecting gabled bay with flanking wings. To the left, there is a blocked opening, followed by a glazed door with an integral sash. Next, there is a gabled glazed timber porch, and then a flat-roofed single-storey addition with a parapet and a single 20th-century casement. Above this addition are a glazing bar sash and three plain sashes, with another blocked opening to the right. The upper level features three plain sashes. The return angle to the west has a blocked opening above, while the east gable has a casement above.

The rear elevation includes a stair turret and a recessed bay on the left, with a casement to the left and a Venetian window to its right. Further to the right are a small casement and three sashes, followed by a single-storey addition with a slate roof. This addition has a door on the left and a casement on the right, with four casements above and a door flanked by single casements above again. The fenestration throughout the building is irregularly spaced. The west front features a sash to the right, with a sash to the left above, and two glazing bar lights to the right above, along with another sash above.
