Description

The Cottage is a mid-18th century and 19th century cottage. It is constructed from coursed limestone and ironstone rubble with a thatched roof. The earlier part has a rubble plinth and quoins. A central brick ridge stack is present. The cottage is one-and-a-half storeys with a baffle entry plan, originally three bays wide. Ground floor openings are topped with wooden lintels.

The south side has two close-boarded doors with beaded jambs, flanked by single three-light casement windows. To the left is a concrete-tiled addition with 20th century casement windows. Above, a central three-light, iron-framed, leaded casement is set within an eyebrow dormer. The front (street) side has a small casement window near the centre, flanked by single 19th century and 20th century three-light casement windows. Directly above is a matching dormer and casement window to those on the south side. The west gable incorporates a single-storey addition with a 20th century casement window, and a similar casement window above.
