Description

Lodge Cottage is a former gatehouse that has been converted into a house. It dates from the late 18th century and has 19th and mid-20th century additions. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and ashlar, with a brick addition and a pyramidal stone slate roof. It features quoins and a paired coped stone side wall stack. The structure is two storeys tall and has three bays, with a square plan and lean-to additions on the south side.

The windows are mostly 20th century glazing bar casements. On the east side, there is a lean-to range to the left with an off-centre glazed door and two casements, all featuring wooden lintels. To the right, there is a 20th century stone-faced porch with a door and a casement on the return angle. Above this porch, there is a 20th century casement to the left and a two-light sliding sash to the right. On the west side, there are two 20th century imitation sashes to the left and above, additional casements, all with wooden lintels.

This building was originally one of a pair of gatehouses for Pytchley Hall, which was demolished in 1824.
