Description

Keeper’s Cottage is a cottage dating to 1719, with alterations made in the mid-20th century. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble with ashlar quoins and has a thatched roof. One gable is coped with kneelers. The property features single stone gable and ridge stacks with brick flues. The cottage is two storeys high plus garrets, and has two bays. The windows are mainly 20th-century glazing bar casements. The front elevation has an off-centre 19th-century eight-panel door set within wooden jambs, and a 20th-century thatched porch hood supported by posts. There are three casements on the front, those to the right having keystoned flat arches. Above these, two casements are present with wooden lintels, and to the right, a 19th-century five-pane glazing bar sash window, followed by a casement. Above again, to the right, is a four-light casement within a thatched dormer. The west gable has a casement on each floor, with a larger casement within the garret. Above the garret casement is a dated stone, inscribed ‘W C 1719’. The rear of the cottage has a casement and a close-boarded door, and above these, two casements, all with wooden lintels.
