Description
Dower House is a building that originally consisted of three cottages and an adjoining barn, now converted into a house. It dates from the late 18th century and early 19th century, with alterations made in the mid-20th century. The structure is built of coursed rubble and features thatched and pantile roofs. It is designed in an L-shape, with one and two storeys and four bays.
The windows are primarily 20th-century, featuring two-light glazing bar casements. On the south side, the left section has a two-bay range with two casements on each floor, all with wooden lintels. To the right is a single bay that is set back, containing one casement on each floor. Further to the right is a single-storey bay that is also set back, which includes two casements and a 20th-century door. The far right features a two-storey addition built on the foundations of the former barn.
The west gable has two windows with wooden lintels, one of which is blocked, and above it to the left is a similar window. Inside, the building has chamfered spine beams and a fireplace bressumer without stops, along with an oak winder stair that has a square newel. Notably, the first floor of the central section has been removed.
