Description
Oldfield Gatehouse is a gatehouse that has been converted into a house. It was built in the early 19th century and has had some additions and alterations made in the 20th century. The structure is made of coursed rubble with stone dressings and features long and short quoins, topped with an asbestos slate hipped roof. Originally designed in an octagonal shape, it now includes a large two-storey extension at the rear. The building is in the Gothic style and stands two storeys high. The front has three sides, with pointed arched windows featuring Y-tracery in the upper section and two-light casements in the lower section, all supported by relieving arches. The left side has a narrow gabled porch with a 20th-century door and a similar window on the first floor to the left. The right side has matching windows on both the ground and first floors.
