Description
The Old School House is an 18th-century school house, later converted into a house, situated on the south side of Lower Street in Dyrham. It is constructed of rubble with stone dressings and quoins, and has a double Roman tiled roof with raised coped verges and kneelers, along with 20th-century replacement stone gable stacks. The building is two storeys high with three windows. These are three-light casements featuring wide ovolo mullions and leaded lights, with a hood mould above each. The first floor has a two-light casement in the central position. An entrance door, set within a plain stone surround and a flat hood supported by brackets, is centrally placed. A single-storey addition is present to the left, with a matching two-light casement, and blank returns on both left and right sides. The interior has not been inspected.
