Description

The Garden House is a pair of houses that have been combined into one. It has origins dating back to the late 17th century, with alterations and additions made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The exterior is constructed from coursed rubble with stone dressings. The right side features a stone tiled roof with raised coped verges, kneelers, and a gable stack, while the left side has a double Roman tiled roof with similar raised coped verges and a gable stack.

The building is two storeys high and has three windows on the front. The ground floor includes two 3-light casement windows with flat mullions, a central flat-roofed porch with a double door set in a chamfered surround, and a parapet with coping. There is a continuous hood mould above the lintels and porch. On the first floor, there are two 3-light windows and a central 2-light window located under the eaves.

To the left, there is a lower two-storey attached cottage that has four varied windows on the ground floor, which include three 2-light casements and one 8-pane light. There is also a small door with a heavy frame, plain strap hinges, and a timber lintel. The cottage has two small 20th-century 2-light casements under the eaves.

At the rear, there is a 20th-century terrace arcade at cellar level with five round arches. The ground floor features two 2-light casements similar to those on the front, along with a central 20th-century French window with a dripstone. The first floor has three smaller 2-light casements. To the right, there is a 3-light casement and a 2-light window (formerly a door), with four 2-light casements under the eaves. Additionally, there is a single-storey addition with a pitched roof attached to the right. The interior has not been inspected.
