Description
The Old Rectory is a building that has been converted into two houses. It has a core structure from the 17th century, with expansions and alterations made in the mid-18th century and early 19th century, along with some changes in the 20th century. The building is constructed from limestone rubble with stone dressings and features three bays on the front left, finished in stucco, with some ashlar elements and slate roofs. It has an L-shaped plan.
The west front, on the left, is two storeys high with three windows. The ground floor includes two large sash windows with margin glazing, a raised surround, and a cill, along with double panelled doors to the right that have an overlight. Wrought iron panelled piers support a canopy verandah. The first floor features three sashes, a cornice, a parapet, and raised quoins. To the right, the gable end of the wing has a ground and first floor sash in a raised surround with a hood mould, and a 2-light casement in the gable with a dripstone and a ball finial.
The right return is 2½ storeys tall with five windows. The ground floor has three sashes with hood moulds, a 2-light casement with an ovolo mullion and hood mould, and a six-panelled door with a fanlight featuring radial leadwork. Pilasters on either side have capitals that serve as imposts for a round head, with a triple keystone above. The first floor has two sashes with a hood mould on the left and three 2-light casements with hood moulds on the right, along with a parapet and coping. There are two 19th-century gabled dormers with ball finials. An attached 1½ storey wing to the right has a former door that has been replaced with a 20th-century window, a large projecting oven, and two buttresses.
The left return is finished in stucco, and the rear wing is set back, standing two storeys high with two windows, all of which are sashes. There is a lower two-storey wing attached to the left, featuring three 8-pane sashes on the ground floor and two 8-pane sashes along with paired central 8-pane sashes on the first floor. The rear of the building has a variety of windows, including three 8-pane sashes on the first floor to the right and a circular window in the gable. A single-storey former scullery is attached to the left. The interior has not been inspected.
