Description
The Highlands is a house located on Aylestone Hill in Hereford, dating from the early to mid 19th century. It is constructed of stucco and features a hipped roof covered with graduated Welsh slate, along with four brick lateral stacks. The building is two storeys high and has a three-window range with 6/6 sash windows and deep bracketed eaves. The central entrance consists of a six-panel door with an ornamental fanlight, set within a plain stucco doorcase topped by a modillioned hood. This entrance is flanked by 8/12 sash windows.
On the left side of the building, there is a tier of 6/6 and 8/12 sash windows. The right side features a painted brick service wing with a tier of 2/4 sash windows and a brick stack.
Inside No. 88, there is a dogleg staircase with stick balusters. The first floor includes a six-panel door, architraves, and coving. The ground floor has several six-panel doors, a four-panel door, coving, a fireplace, alcoves with beaded architraves, a marble fireplace, and panelled shutters on the windows. The cellar is stone-lined.
