Cottage. Early C19. Brick; hipped thatched roof; brick end stack; brick stack to rear. 2 storeys; 3-window range: 2-light casements (C20 to left) with Gothick heads. Central entrance: C19, 3-panel door with Gothick motif; blocked opening with plain light, and leaded light casement with Gothick head, to right; blind opening to left; all under segmental arches. 3 dressed stone and brick pilaster-buttresses; stone storeyband. Right returned side: C20, 2-light casement. Left returned side: Gothick light with added casement, over C19, 8/8 sash under segmental arch. Late C20 thatched wing to rear. This was the home of the painter David Cox. The house was purpose-built as a cottage-cum-studio for him in 1817. He lived there until 1823, when he moved to No.47 Venn's Lane (qv).
