Description

Old Well House is a house dating from the late 17th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone and ironstone rubble, topped with an artificial stone slate roof, and features brick and stone stacks. The building has an L-plan layout and consists of two storeys, an attic, and a cellar, with three bays.

The doorway is located to the left of centre and has a wooden lintel, a 19th-century half-glazed door, and a flat wooden hood supported by scroll brackets. To the left of the doorway is a three-light casement window with a wooden lintel, and to the right, there is a two-light casement window with a wooden lintel. The right bay contains another two-light casement window, which has a wooden mullion and transom along with a wooden lintel. On the first floor, all windows are two-light casements with wooden lintels. There is a blocked cellar window on the right side featuring three lights with stone mullions and a stone hood, as well as a similar one-light window in the attic.

At the rear, there is a projecting wing dating from the 17th to 18th century, made from similar materials, which is two storeys high and has two bays, including a casement window with a wooden lintel. The interior was remodelled in the 20th century.
