Description

Sundial Cottage is a house dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. It is constructed of uncoursed limestone and ironstone rubble, with an asbestos tile roof and brick stacks. The house is arranged in an L-shape and has two storeys and an attic, with two bays at the front. A doorway is located in the left bay, featuring a wood lintel and a 20th-century ribbed plank door. To the right of the doorway is a two-light window with an original wood lintel and a 20th-century metal casement. Further to the right is a three-light window with a wood lintel and an iron casement. The first-floor windows retain their wood lintels and have two-light wood casements. Two gabled attic dormers are present. A gabled projecting wing extends from the left side of the main block, featuring one bay and two storeys and an attic. The windows in this wing also have wood lintels and 20th-century three-light metal casements, and the coped gable has kneelers. The interior is understood to have been remodelled in the 20th century and now contains a 20th-century staircase.
