Description
The Malt House is a cottage dating from the late 17th century, constructed of squared coursed limestone and ironstone, topped with an artificial stone slate roof and featuring flanking brick and stone stacks. The building is two storeys high and has three bays. The central doorway is framed by a wooden lintel and features a ribbed plank door. To the right of the entrance, there is a three-light window with a 17th-century stone hood, 18th or 19th-century wooden mullions, and an iron casement. The window to the left is similar but has a wooden lintel. The first floor has 20th-century windows. A mezzanine window to the left of the entrance is a 17th-century two-light window with a wooden lintel and wooden mullion. The gable on the right is coped and has kneelers. Inside, there are stop-chamfered spine beams and an open fireplace with two bread ovens. The staircase, although from the 20th century, is in its original position to the left of the entrance.
