Description

Vine Cottage is an early 18th-century cottage located on Silver Street in Chackombe. The cottage is constructed of squared coursed ironstone with a thatched roof, and has brick and stone stacks. It is two storeys and an attic, with two bays. The central doorway has a wood lintel and a ribbed plank door. All windows are of three lights with wood lintels, wood mullions, and iron casements. A one-story extension, built in the 18th or 19th century using limestone rubble and a thatched roof, adjoins the original cottage to the left. The ground and first floors of the interior were remodelled in the 20th century, although chamfered joists remain. The roof structure retains original main rafters and purlins, and there are stud partitions on the first floor.
