Description
Chapel House is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is built of coursed limestone and ironstone rubble, with a slate roof and brick and stone stacks. The house has two storeys and an attic, and four bays. A doorway is located in the second bay from the right, featuring a chamfered wooden frame, a three-panel part-glazed door and a flat wooden hood supported by brackets. A 19th-century bay window is to the right. To the left are two 17th-century three-light stone mullioned windows with square hoods. The first floor has two-light casement windows with wooden lintels, and two 19th-century gabled half dormers, each with two lights and stone mullions. On the left side of the ground floor is a 17th-century five-light stone mullioned window with a square hood. Inside, a 17th-century stone fireplace has a four-centred arch with cut spandrels. The house also has stop-chamfered spine beams, and a 20th-century staircase.
