Description
Castle Farmhouse is a house dating from around 1700. It is built of squared coursed ironstone and limestone, topped with an artificial stone slate roof, and features brick and stone stacks. The house has two storeys, an attic, and a cellar, with a three-bay front.
On the ground floor, there is a two-light cellar window, which is partially blocked, located in the right bay. The central doorway has a stone lintel, panelled reveals, and a six-panel part-glazed door. To the left, there is a 19th-century bay window, and to the right, a three-light casement window with a wooden lintel. The left bay also features a similar three-light casement window. On the first floor, there are similar windows in the left and right bays, with a two-light casement window with a wooden lintel in the centre. The right gable end is coped and has kneelers.
To the left is a lower extension from the 18th century, built with similar materials. This extension has two storeys and two bays, with three-light wooden casement windows and wooden lintels. Inside, the farmhouse features stop-chamfered spine beams and a semi-circular bread oven that projects from the main house into the left extension.
