Description
Home Farmhouse is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house, with a datestone indicating it was built in 1615. The structure is made of squared coursed lias and features slate and concrete tile roofs. Originally, it likely had an L-shaped plan, but it has since been altered to a T-shaped layout. The building has two storeys with an attic.
On the rear elevations, each side has a two-window range; the left side features casements with leaded lights set under wooden lintels, while the right side includes a 19th-century square bay window. There is a 19th-century porch and door located in the center of the front elevation. The north and east wings have ashlar gable parapets and brick stacks at the ends, with the left wing likely dating from the 19th century. The road-facing elevation showcases 19th-century tripartite sash windows. A datestone is visible on the north gable.
Inside, the room to the left of the entrance has an open fireplace with a bressumer and ceiling beams that are chamfered and stopped. There is a cellar beneath the west wing that contains a two-light stone mullion window below ground level. The roof structure features butt purlins. Additionally, the first-floor room of a barn attached to the south was used as an early 19th-century nonconformist chapel and still has a simple pulpit with fielded panelling.
