Church of St Peter and St Paul

The Church of St Peter and St Paul is a church dating from the 12th to 14th centuries, with a 19th-century restoration by Williams, Slater and Gillett. It is constructed of regular coursed and squared coursed lias stone, with ashlar dressings. The roof is covered in aluminium and lead. The church comprises an aisled nave and chancel, and a west tower.

The south aisle is two bays wide. The right-hand bay is likely a 19th-century reconstruction, featuring a double lancet window and a doorway to its right, and a 3-light east window with intersecting tracery. The left-hand bay dates to the 14th century and has a 3-light Perpendicular window. A gabled porch with a double chamfered arch is located on the left, and a single lancet window is placed to the west. The north aisle, also two bays wide, has a 2-light window with intersecting tracery to the left and a 3-light Perpendicular window to the right. A 3-light Perpendicular east window and a 2-light west window with intersecting tracery are also present. A blank lancet is positioned to the left. The tower has large ashlar angle and clasping buttresses. The roofs are gabled, with ashlar parapets and finials. The chancel features a 5-light Perpendicular east window with a small quatrefoil, a gabled parapet, and a finial. The north nave clerestory has three square windows with quatrefoils, an ashlar cornice, and a gabled roof with an ashlar abutment parapet and a bellcote at the apex.

The west tower is from the 12th century, with three stages. It includes single lancets on the south and west faces of the first stage. The recessed upper stage has 2-light round-headed bell chamber openings in round-headed openings with simple shafts, and is topped with a plain ashlar cornice and parapets with pinnacles at the corners.

Inside, the chancel has a two-bay north arcade with double chamfered pointed arches resting on octagonal piers. A single double chamfered arch leads south, and there are double chamfered chancel and side chapel arches. The two-bay nave arcade has double chamfered pointed arches on octagonal piers, with the north piers being taller. A plain pointed tower arch is blocked. The roofs are 19th century, and the chancel ceiling panels are painted. Stained glass is in the east window and south aisle. A 14th-century piscina is located in the south aisle, and a 19th-century ashlar chancel screen is present. The font probably dates to the 13th century, featuring a bowl supported on a cluster of shafts.
