Description
The Old Rectory and Rectory Annex is a rectory, dating from 1716 and later used as a house. It is constructed of lias ashlar with a slate roof and has a double-depth plan. The east facade has a five-window range. The central section projects forward as a two-storey porch with a pediment. The entrance door is a six-panelled design, set within a moulded stone architrave and a moulded keystone. The sash windows have glazing bars and flat stone architraves with a moulded inner edge and keyblock. Blank windows are present on the left-hand side of the ground floor. A plain string course separates the two storeys, and rusticated quoins define the corners. The building features an ashlar cornice, a gable parapet with kneelers, and three pedimented roof dormers. Ashlar stacks with a moulded cornice are on the ridge. A crest with the date is positioned above the entrance. A sundial is located on the left gable. 19th-century extensions are present to the rear, with a limestone bay to the south. Inside, a mid-18th century staircase has simple turned balusters.
