Description
Pell Cottage and attached outbuildings is a house that likely has origins from the 17th century but was remodeled in the early 19th century. It features regular coursed limestone with a limestone ashlar facade, topped with a combination of Collyweston slate and 20th-century plain tile roofs. The building originally had a two-unit plan but now has an L-shape. It stands two storeys high with a main front that has a three-window range. The central entrance consists of a six-panel door with glazed toplights, panelled reveals, and a moulded wood surround. The sash windows, which have glazing bars, are set under stone lintels with keyblocks. The gable ends have ashlar parapets and brick and ashlar stacks. The left gable shows signs of earlier 17th-century construction. Attached to the left is a two-storey outbuilding, also featuring a three-window range and a Collyweston slate roof. Inside, the entrance hall contains an early 19th-century staircase with a stick balustrade. The room to the right of the entrance has an open fireplace with a bressumer, early 19th-century six-panelled doors, and moulded architraves with roundels at the corners. The window surrounds are similar, and the window reveals are panelled.
