Description
Weldon Congregational Church is a chapel built in 1792, with a gallery added in 1808. It is constructed from limestone ashlar and features a Collyweston slate roof. The chapel is a single unit with a vestibule and a gallery. The central window is arch-headed with a keystone and has renewed Gothic glazing bars, flanked by two similar arch-headed door openings, one of which is now blocked. The ashlar gable parapets have a truncated stack at one end. The right gable includes a similar arch-headed window and two square-headed windows. Attached to the left is a mid-19th century single-storey school room and vestry, designed in a similar style. Inside, there is a panelled gallery front, and a casket-shaped marble tablet serves as a monument to John Phillips, who died in 1837.
