Description
This is an outbuilding attached to a house dating from the late 17th century, with later alterations made in the late 18th or early 19th century. The structure is built of squared coursed limestone and has a roof made of Collyweston slate. Originally, it had a two-unit plan and stands two storeys high. The front features a two-window range of 19th-century casements beneath wooden lintels, with a central 19th-century plank door also under a wooden lintel. There is a slit fire window on the far left, and the building has an ashlar stack on the left end and a brick stack on the right. The right gable, which faces the road, has two blocked 2-light stone mullion windows with ovolo moulding, and there is evidence of a 17th-century roof pitch in this gable. The rear elevation, which faces the garden, mirrors the front with another two-window range of 19th-century casements. To the left of the main building is a single-storey outbuilding. Although the interior was not inspected, it is reported to contain remains of an open fireplace and a bread oven.
