Description
No. 9 Lower Benefield is a house dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century. It is built of squared coursed limestone and features a thatched roof. The original layout is a two-unit lobby-entry plan. The house is a single storey with an attic and has a two-window range of leaded casements beneath wooden lintels. There are two plank doors, also under wooden lintels, located at the far left and right. A central ashlar stack is present, and there are part leaded casements in the gable ends of the attic, again under wooden lintels. A 20th-century single-storey extension has been added to the rear. Although the interior has not been inspected, it likely contains remnants of open fireplaces. The building was used as two separate dwellings for a period.
